10 Things Tenerife Locals Know (That Tourists Often Don't)
After years of working with guests from all over, we've noticed some questions keep coming back. Here's a practical roundup.
Always bring one extra layer
Even on a warm day on the coast, temperatures drop a lot as you climb toward Teide: a light rain jacket or fleece in your bag is never a bad idea.
The south and north are two different worlds
Don't expect the same scenery everywhere: if you have time, it's worth dedicating at least a day to the north of the island too, much greener.
Dinner is late
Like the rest of Spain, restaurants really fill up after 8:30-9pm: if you prefer earlier Italian-style hours, many tourist-area venues in the south adapt anyway.
Respect for the sea isn't optional
The regulations on distance from cetaceans, a minimum of 60 metres, are taken seriously, and that's a good thing: it's also why the whale and dolphin populations are still here.
Booking ahead pays off
For the most requested experiences, especially in high season, booking a few days ahead avoids the disappointment of sold-out availability.
